Easter 2008 Scripture Selection - Too Good And True
14 February 2008

Good Friday and Easter Sunday are the most important dates on the Christian calendar, and this year we are celebrating these occasions early on March 21 and 23 respectively. Another great opportunity is here to share our faith with loved ones and even strangers.

BSM’s Easter Scripture tract this year is titled Too Good And True. Let us celebrate the good and true news that Jesus died for our sins and rose for our justification. Let us share this news with as many as we can.

The tract is available in two versions – English-Chinese and English-Malay. Please find enclosed a visual of the English version and the texts for the Chinese and Malay versions. Response slips (trilingual) will be supplied with the tracts so that you have the opportunity to assist those who may want some help after reading the tracts. If you choose to use this slip, please stamp your church’s contact information in the blank space. (If you leave the space blank, responses may be sent to BSM and we do not have the mechanism to follow up.)

The tracts are free. Kindly place your order with us early by using the order form.

You may also place an order for Bibles, NTs or Scripture portions using the same order form. In addition, we have leftover copies of last year’s Easter tract titled The Tomb of Jesus, if you are interested.

How would you react to news that sounds too good to be true?

Too Good And True

Our first reaction might be to disbelieve it. But what if we know that the news, if true, would dramatically alter the course of our lives? Many people find themselves scurrying around trying to determine if the news is really, really true all the while hoping that this one time, the too good is true.

The same scurryings surrounded the events of the first Easter Sunday…

Three days had passed since Jesus was crucified and laid in the tomb. From dawn onwards, there had been “rumours” about an empty tomb and Jesus having risen from the dead!

How did the events turn out?

When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene… She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it. Afterward Jesus appeared… to two of them while they were walking in the country… These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either. Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. (Mark 16:9-14)

Some time later:

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “… Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs… This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead… God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact… Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins… The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:14, 22-24, 32, 38-39)

What was considered “too good to be true” turned out to be true after all!

It changed the disciples’ lives.

It has changed many lives since that time.

It can change your life today.

God has a “too good and true” offer for you through Jesus Christ. Will you accept His offer?
